This from a company that now makes laptops with tiny internal drive that cannot be upgraded with more storage Because that's the "right thing to do" rather than just pop a dialog box with a "please connect the library drive" message. The Apple support page for moving your iMovie Library is here:īe aware that the moment you launch iMovie without your external drive connected, it's right back to putting the library on your system drive again.
The good news, if you want to look at it that way, is you can relocate your iMove Library to a huge external drive. Pardon me for griping, but I've been an Apple user since before the Mac, I do see what's changed, and happening now. It's the worst kind of planned and forced obsolescence. This is just the kind of bull-headed "we know what's right and don't give a fig about our customer's needs" thing that adds more and more complaints to my list of Apple's infractions against customers. And I use Final Cut, where files can simply be linked and not copied. And still have an array of externals too for big projects, backups and cold storage.

This is why I still use a MacBook Pro from 2012 that I upgraded to 1TB SSD for the system and 2TB of HDD storage in place of the optical drive. To me, a laptop tethered to an external drive misses the point entirely.
#IMOVIE NOT ENOUGH DISK SPACE SOFTWARE#
This from a company that now makes laptops with tiny internal drive that cannot be upgraded with more storage, and yet includes video editing software that will burn all your free non-upgradable drive space. IMovie always copies imported files, duplicating them, just like iTunes and Photos/iPhoto. While I'm at it, is there a way I can import files from my memory card to a external hard drive and edit off the external and not even put anything on the laptop? Hopefully avoiding this issue in the future. Once I move the files to iMovie does it in create a second copy on the hard drive ? If iMovie keeps a copy of the files would I be ok to delete all the old projects in my iMovie Library (original files are still on HD)? Or is there some other way I filled up the other 10 gigs of space on my hard drive without knowing it? Stopped for the night and came back today and now my hard drive has 200 mb free space. I deleted 20 gigs, now have 20 free gigs, added a video project that was 10 gigs to my desk top HD, copied over to iMovie and started editing. préciser donc si vous le désirez ce précédemment Avec encore mes remerciements et félicitations. Please forgive me I'm little frustrated and confused so I'll try to explain this the best I can.

Phew! I’m about to leave a donation because this saved my mobility working life! ? I had many headaches and hiccups following the instructions and after several days of missteps, I FINALLY got it right! Hallelujah! My Adobe apps are downloading to my system now.
But of course, with a system reset, all that was gone! Thank God I stumbled on this tutorial. But those last compatible versions were still on my hard drive.

So anytime my Adobe software updated over the years, it would install newer versions until they were no longer compatible.
#IMOVIE NOT ENOUGH DISK SPACE DOWNLOAD#
However, when I went to download the Adobe Creative Cloud, ALL SOFTWARE WAS INCOMPATIBLE! I almost had a heart attack because I only use my laptop when traveling, to work! I’m a graphic designer! My laptop only goes as high as El Capitan OS. After sluggish performance for quite sometime, I did a total HD wipe and reset the laptop like brand new. OMG! This worked! I had older versions of the Adobe Creative Cloud software downloaded on my MBP early 2009.
